How guides are researched

Food safety and hygiene guides are written for people running cafes, restaurants, takeaways and similar businesses. They draw on authoritative sources such as the Food Standards Agency and relevant UK government or local authority guidance, plus Localyn’s product and engineering experience where it is genuinely applicable.

We do not invent named external experts or qualifications. Where authorship is shown, it is Localyn as an organisation unless a real named reviewer is stated.

Factual claims and official information

Official food hygiene ratings and related FSA fields are government data. Localyn does not present them as Localyn’s own scores. Localyn analysis (for example counts and percentages on directory pages) is labelled as analysis over that official data.

Unsupported claims are not published as facts. Marketing pages describe Localyn product capabilities that exist in the platform; we do not invent features.

Review and dates

Guides show a published date and are reviewed periodically. Where a last-reviewed or last-updated date is shown on a page, it reflects Localyn’s content review, not an FSA inspection date.

Corrections

Directory listing issues can be reported from the listing page (closed, wrong name, address, category, phone, website, or other). See the dedicated corrections page for how reports are handled. Guide or methodology corrections can be sent via Contact. Material errors are corrected promptly once verified.

Directory content quality

Localyn keeps city, area and category directory pages crawlable and useful. Thin unclaimed business profiles remain available for discovery and claiming but are not treated as indexable SEO destinations. Claimed, enriched profiles may become indexable when they meet Localyn’s quality thresholds. See data methodology.
